"The River City"

Pineville, Missouri

Mayor’s Welcome

As Mayor of the City of Pineville, I would like to welcome you to our town. Pineville is the county seat of McDonald County and sits on the banks of Elk River. In 1938 the movie “Jessie James” was filmed on our town square and around our city. The filming event was one of the largest things to happen to McDonald County. Now each August our fire department sponsors it’s “Annual Jesse James Days” with a carnival, food, vendors, and entertainment for 4 nights.

Pineville has a lot to offer its residence with great police and fire protection, city utilities, great schools, and we sit on the I-49 corridor which connects us to Northwest Arkansas and Joplin Missouri. The city has built a new community center for its residents and it is reserved almost daily with some type of event.

Our current population is 791 and we have a new housing development just west of town called Mt. Ridge just off State Highway H. This is some of the most beautiful land available in McDonald County to build a home. It sits atop a hill overlooking Pineville; all city services are available to homeowners there also.

One of our biggest industries in Pineville is the canoe and camping industry. Elk River is formed as the Little Sugar Creek and the Big Sugar Creek come together on the South edge of town. We have several campgrounds located in and around the city which offers a great get-away from the everyday life. Take a float trip or just swim in the  beautiful Elk River and watch eagles fly overhead. Pineville has worked with Missouri Department of Conservation and we have a public access just off of Highway W and Rhine Street for folks to use. It has a boat ramp, parking, and restrooms that are open to the public to use.

We have recently added a new walking trail/ Pump trail & Bike park located on Big Sugar Creek Road just east of town make plans to visit.

So with all that being said I feel that we have a lot to offer you and your family, so come see us and check us out for yourself.
